If it’s Lent, there is likely a lot happening at your parish: Stations of the Cross, Friday fish frys, additional liturgies and confession times, etc … Here’s an easy way to put all that Lent-focused content on one page, which will easily allow you to share it with readers so they can enrich their Lenten journey with just the click of a button.
To create a website hub for all things Lent at your parish, school, or ministry, follow these five, easy steps:
Once you've got everything in its proper place, don't forget to hit that green Publish button! Now you're ready to share a new Lenten hub on your website's homepage. Consider adding a photo in your Homepage Feature Region, or a custom homepage button linking to your Lent page.
When you set up your page, using an alias like “Lent” helps further promote your content. Also be sure to share your events and resources in your bulletin by taking advantage of the custom QR Code for your Lent page!
Oh! And don’t forget to post about it in social media, and include your QR Code in newsletters or bulletin board flyers.
Add some final touches with Catholic Content modules that automatically populate new content for the liturgical season. Look for special modules like Lent Reflections or guided video meditations. You can even add the Today’s Readings module to share Mass readings for each day in Lent.
Navigate to your site's Content Tray, choose the Catholic Content tab and simply drag-and-drop your favorite modules onto your webpage to help enhance your flock's Lenten journey!
Want more Catholic content for your website? We've got you covered! The Word on Fire Lent Reflections module is always made available shortly before the Lent season begins! Simply drag-and-drop the module onto a page to automatically display daily reflections from Bishop Robert Barron.
It’s likely your organization has events or news that you'd like to share, to help deepen your community’s spiritual journey. These may include Parish Missions, donation drives, or Stations of the Cross. You may also want to share materials like Father’s video about penance and fasting, an explanation of Lent, or how to reserve a seat at the fish fry.
Let all these things fill your Lent page by using different section types and modules. Start out your page with a Headline section to welcome and direct readers to various page content. Then, utilize different section types such as a Tabs, Column, or an Events section to share all of the details in a well-organized fashion.
Already have Lent-related items in your main calendar or news module? No need to recreate them for your Lent page's news and events! Simply access the already published articles, go to their individual settings, and select the Pages tab. Then, tag your "Lent" page so that it appears in those news and event feeds as well. Check out more detailed instructions here.
Think about the content that will fill up your Lent page, then choose the best layout option by selecting the Page Settings located in the bottom left corner of the screen.
For the greatest variety of content styling, consider using a Sections Layout! You can spotlight information with a Headline section, add a row of buttons, create tabbed content, and end up with information organized in fun horizontal content regions.
If you don't already have a Lent page, create a new page using the Site Map (pictured below). When setting up the page, be sure to give it an alias like “lent.” This way you can easily promote it later (see Step 5).
Then, use the page image option to place a vibrant photo near the header of the page to enhance any content below. Consider images from your organization’s own liturgical decorations like purple fabric draped over a cross, a station of the cross inside your nave, or ashes for Ash Wednesday.
